Its the year 2057. You are a group of geologists and other scientists from different fields on an expedition to the North Pole to study a peculiar asteroid that has fallen there. Why are some people behaving weirdly? Why isnt there blood? Why cant you remember anything clearly from before that expedition?
The best moment in any puzzle game is the one just after you have been stuck. You have tried the obvious moves, nothing worked, and then you spot the thing you overlooked. The whole board resolves in a few quick taps. Sessions are built from a string of those moments, separated by stretches of quiet staring. It is slow in a good way.
Because it fits into the gaps. A Mimicry of Life does not need a download or a login, and a stage takes about as long as waiting for a kettle. It is also one of the few kinds of game that leaves you feeling slightly sharper rather than drained.
Players of any age who like a quiet challenge. Grandparents and grandchildren can share it. People who commute, anyone who enjoys logic problems, and those who want a game that does not demand quick fingers.
