The guide

Overview

The best zombie-hunting games let you choose from an arsenal of powerful weapons. You've been fighting many ghost bots in Minecraft across multiple maps all at the same time. No matter how well-armed you are, you will still face undead foes. I do not have the resources to prepare for anything like that. To enjoy these shooting games, you'll need to take cover behind different objects. Which free online gaming buddy do you like to use the most? The story includes a tally of weapons. Most scary games provide players with a gun to defend themselves.

What it's like to play

Every wave is a question of what to shoot first. Shooting games layer enemies with different speeds, sizes and attack patterns, and the skill is in sorting them under pressure. Early rounds are generous with time. Later rounds are not. Ammo, health and the occasional power-up give you resources to manage alongside your aim. Sessions end when the screen gets too busy, and you restart knowing a little more.

How to play

1Read the controls, then fire a few test shots to learn the range and spread of your weapon.
2Pick off fast, small enemies first. They reach you quickest and are easiest to lose track of.
3Reposition between waves if the game allows movement; standing in the same spot makes you predictable.
4Save bombs or special attacks for emergencies when you are about to take damage.
