How long does a game of Assault take?

Longer than most browser games. A single stage or map might run ten to thirty minutes. Many strategy games let you leave and return on the same device.

Is it turn-based or real time?

Both exist in this category. Tower defence tends to be real time with pauses between waves; tactics games are often turn-based. The start screen will make it clear.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, though a tablet or desktop is easier for reading a map and placing units precisely. Touch controls are provided on mobile.

More to play

24 games

Strategy games slow everything down and ask you to think. Tower defence, turn-based tactics, resource building, territory grabs. Sessions are longer than most browser games because decisions compound: the tower you place in minute two determines whether minute eight is calm or chaotic. There is time to plan, and the game punishes you only when the plan was wrong. Losing teaches you something specific.

How to play

1Read the objective on the first stage and look at the map for choke points, resources and your base.
2Spend your starting resources on a small number of strong positions rather than spreading thin.
3Watch how the first wave or enemy turn plays out, then adjust before committing more.
4Upgrade what is working rather than adding new things. Concentrated strength wins most strategy games.

Who it's for

Suits players who enjoy thinking ahead, from older children through adults. Fans of tower defence and tactics games will feel at home. People who find action games stressful often prefer this category.
