The guide

Overview

Help Miguel the bartender mix cocktails for himself in the right ratios. Choose from a shelf full of different drinks and mix them together to make the ultimate cocktail for a good night out. Add ice or lemon to give it that extra kick but be careful, mixing in the wrong amounts or simply mixing the wrong drinks could end in the worst of ways. No bartending school required.

What it's like to play

Young children do not need complicated rules to have fun, and the games here know it. Each stage asks for one simple thing: tap this, drag that, find the matching one. The reward is immediate and cheerful. Over a session, which might be five minutes or twenty, a child works through a handful of these small tasks with a parent or on their own.

How to play

1Press the Play button, then wait for the game to point at what to do first.
2Tap or drag as shown. If nothing happens, try tapping something else that is moving or glowing.
3Watch for the celebration that confirms a correct answer, then wait for the next task.
4Use the home or back button to switch activities if one stage is not holding attention.

Why it's worth a go

Bartender: The Right Mix gives a young child a safe, simple thing to do on a screen. It is free, runs in the browser with no download or account, and parents can see the whole game at a glance. The gentle pace suits short attention spans and does not wind anyone up.

Who it's for

Suits children aged roughly three to eight. The youngest will need an adult to start the game and read any prompts; older children will manage alone after a stage or two.
