Overview

The best soul-stirring video games provide you with a variety of tools. Over multiple Minecraft worlds, you & your army of ghost machines have been engaged in a war for a significant time. What it's like to play

Aim matters, but so does knowing where to look. Shooting games reward players who watch the whole screen and prioritise. Which enemy is closest, which one is about to fire, which pickup is worth the detour. The trigger is the easy part. Sessions run through waves or stages of mounting pressure, and when they end, usually suddenly, you have a score and a good idea of what to do differently.

How to play

1Learn the fire control and, if there is one, the movement control before the first wave arrives.
2Scan the edges of the screen regularly. New enemies tend to appear there.
3Fire in short bursts at a single target until it drops, then switch. Spraying wastes ammo.
4Use any special weapon or bomb when the screen is crowded, not when it is nearly clear.

Why it's worth a go

Blocky Combat Swat Edge 2022 runs free in the browser, loads in seconds and asks only for your aim. There is no download, no login, and no setup. The rounds are short and the scoring is clear, so you always know whether you are improving from one attempt to the next.
