The guide

Overview

Broken Veil is a new horror game that will tell you a heart-rending and creepy story about a little boy looking for his mother in the crowd. His way will lie through gruesome locations and during his journey he will meet quite a lot of horrible characters that will try to thwart him. There will be tricky puzzles, and fascinating pursuits, and gripping fights. One of the hallmark features of the gameplay is the ability to use cats, they will help you eliminate the obstacles. Enjoy the game.

What it's like to play

You start somewhere unfamiliar with a vague goal and not much else. An adventure game fills in the rest as you go: a path that opens when you find the right item, a character who tells you where to look, a platform that was there all along if you had thought to jump. Sessions are built from small discoveries, and the best ones stay with you.

How to play

1Spend the first minute exploring without a goal. Note exits, objects and anyone standing around.
2Interact with characters by walking up to them and pressing the action key or tapping. They often hand out clues.
3Collect items as you find them. Most adventures will not let you pick up something you do not eventually need.
4When a puzzle stumps you, read your inventory and the scene again. The combination is usually closer than it seems.
