Does Curve Free Kick work on a phone?

Yes. Most sports games here use swipe or tap controls that suit a touchscreen. A tablet gives more room to see the whole field or court.

Not very, and that is deliberate. Browser sports games keep the rules and the spirit but simplify the physics so matches are quick and fun.

Overview

Curve Free Kick is a 3D free kick game with realistic ball physics. Move your player behind the ball and choose your run-up: the wider the angle, the more the ball curves, and the longer the run-up, the harder the shot. Bend the ball around the wall, use the wind and beat the goalkeeper. The wind blows from the left or right on every level and pushes the ball in the air. Curve with the wind for a huge swerve, or against it to cancel it out. The keeper can be fooled by both wind and spin. Features: - 12 levels, from central free kicks to tight angles near the corner flag - 10 tries, every goal gives one back - Bonus points for top corner and

What it's like to play

A football match in a browser game lasts about three minutes and still manages to feel like a match. That is the trick of the genre. Sports games compress the real thing into a few essential inputs, keep the rules recognisable, and let the scoreboard do the rest. Sessions are built from short rounds, and the urge to play one more is strong when you have just lost.

How to play

1Pick a team or player if offered, then start a match and spend the first few seconds learning how your athlete moves.
2Use the arrow keys or on-screen pad to position, and the action button or tap to kick, shoot or swing.
3Time your action to the moment the ball or target is in reach; early or late inputs lose power or direction.
4Watch the clock and score, and change your approach when behind rather than repeating what is not working.
