The guide

Overview

Racing championships existed at all times. At the beginning, they took place on the race tracks. But it bored, and racers find the way… they start competing on the open world roads with traffic. After a while it became boring too... Introducing the new and totally mad way championship format, “Brake to Die”. In this road rage game, you take control and drive a car contains a bomb. The objective is to survive as long as possible and don’t let the bomb explode. Crash into other vehicles, destroy the environment, make the maximum combo of these actions to get more points and coins. Wreak mayhem on the road. Or you can drive as long as possible carefully avoiding obstacles. Only thing you must remember the bomb attached to your car will explode if you slow down.

What it's like to play

Racing games start with a countdown and a line of opponents, and from there it is all about the next corner. You accelerate, brake a fraction late, drift wide, recover. Position changes constantly. A single race takes two or three minutes, and a session is usually a run of them, each one a slightly cleaner line than the last. The finish line arrives before you are ready for it.

How to play

1Check the controls on the start screen. Arrow keys or WASD steer and accelerate on desktop; tilt or on-screen pedals on phones.
2Brake before a corner, not in it, and turn in smoothly. Jerky steering costs more time than slow entry speed.
3Follow the racing line the other cars take on your first lap, then start cutting it closer.
4Use boosts on straights where you can hold them, not mid-corner where you will lose control.

Why it's worth a go

Dont Brake is a clean hit of speed with no setup. It runs free in a browser tab, needs no download or login, and a race lasts a few minutes. The learning curve is gentle at first and gets steep, which keeps a session interesting well past the first few races.
