The guide

Overview

Dont Splash is a 3D horror platformer set in an endless abandoned pool. Jump from tile to tile through the fog and find the exit, but never fall in: a blind creature lives in the water and hunts by sound. One splash and it comes straight for you. Cross nine rooms of sinking tiles, rotating bridges, drifting floors and crushing walls, throw pebbles and bottles to lure the monster away, and photograph the hidden code to unlock the final door. Play Solo, or team up in 2 Player split-screen on one keyboard: revive your partner and escape together.

What it's like to play

You start somewhere unfamiliar with a vague goal and not much else. An adventure game fills in the rest as you go: a path that opens when you find the right item, a character who tells you where to look, a platform that was there all along if you had thought to jump. Sessions are built from small discoveries, and the best ones stay with you.

How to play

1Spend the first minute exploring without a goal. Note exits, objects and anyone standing around.
2Interact with characters by walking up to them and pressing the action key or tapping. They often hand out clues.
3Collect items as you find them. Most adventures will not let you pick up something you do not eventually need.
4When a puzzle stumps you, read your inventory and the scene again. The combination is usually closer than it seems.

There is a particular pleasure in finally understanding what a place is asking of you, and DONT SPLASH delivers that without any cost or setup. No download, no account, just a Play button. It suits an evening more than a bus ride, but you can leave and return.

Who it's for
