The guide

Overview

Drift your way into the global championships. Introducing a new and thrilling racing game in which you can put your drifting skills to the test against real people from all around the world. Download it for free and begin drifting right away. Collect and modify vehicles, take on solo and team challenges, win one-on-one duels, and work your way up to the top of the global championship league rankings. Would you choose muscle or street cars, supercars or off-road SUVs as your vehicle of choice? For each race, decide the best automobile possible and leave your competitors in the ashes of your fiery slide.

What it's like to play

Racing games start with a countdown and a line of opponents, and from there it is all about the next corner. You accelerate, brake a fraction late, drift wide, recover. Position changes constantly. A single race takes two or three minutes, and a session is usually a run of them, each one a slightly cleaner line than the last. The finish line arrives before you are ready for it.

How to play

1Check the controls on the start screen. Arrow keys or WASD steer and accelerate on desktop; tilt or on-screen pedals on phones.
2Brake before a corner, not in it, and turn in smoothly. Jerky steering costs more time than slow entry speed.
3Follow the racing line the other cars take on your first lap, then start cutting it closer.
4Use boosts on straights where you can hold them, not mid-corner where you will lose control.

Why it's worth a go

DriftCar Sim is a clean hit of speed with no setup. It runs free in a browser tab, needs no download or login, and a race lasts a few minutes. The learning curve is gentle at first and gets steep, which keeps a session interesting well past the first few races.
