The guide

Overview

If you love to play car games on your Android device then download for free this ultimate driving simulator game. Choose your favorite car in the garage (sports cars, supercars, off road vehicles, muscle cars) and press the pedal to the metal in order to reach extreme speeds. Choose the traction type that you like: front wheel drive (FWD), rear wheel drive (RWD) or all-wheel-drive (AWD) and take the cars off-road for an excitement ride. An off-road car for driving on hills and to simulate 4x4 traction. Nowadays, the mobile racing experience has gone so far that you have to play it to believe it. HD graphics, realistic car handling and stunning luxurious cars will make you believe that you drive a real car.

What it's like to play

Racing games start with a countdown and a line of opponents, and from there it is all about the next corner. You accelerate, brake a fraction late, drift wide, recover. Position changes constantly. A single race takes two or three minutes, and a session is usually a run of them, each one a slightly cleaner line than the last. The finish line arrives before you are ready for it.

How to play

1Check the controls on the start screen. Arrow keys or WASD steer and accelerate on desktop; tilt or on-screen pedals on phones.
2Brake before a corner, not in it, and turn in smoothly. Jerky steering costs more time than slow entry speed.
3Follow the racing line the other cars take on your first lap, then start cutting it closer.
4Use boosts on straights where you can hold them, not mid-corner where you will lose control.

Why it's worth a go

Driving Car City is a clean hit of speed with no setup. It runs free in a browser tab, needs no download or login, and a race lasts a few minutes. The learning curve is gentle at first and gets steep, which keeps a session interesting well past the first few races.
