The guide

Overview

Connect similar GEMS blocks using touch or mouse. Make a group of 3 or more, horizontally, vertically or diagonally adjacent GEM to make their block aqua. Make all the blocks aqua to complete the level. Complete all 24 levels to win this game.

What it's like to play

Dress-up, decorating and styling games make up most of this category, and the sessions have a particular rhythm. You are given a blank canvas, a character or a room or a cake, and a panel of options. You try things on, swap them out, and settle on something you like. There is no timer and rarely a score. The game ends when you are happy with the result.

How to play

1Pick a character, room or project from the start screen, then look for the tabs or icons that open each set of options.
2Tap or click an item to apply it. Most games let you swap it instantly, so try several before deciding.
3Work in order: base layers first, then accessories or details, so later choices sit on top properly.
4Look for a camera or save icon when you are done. Many games let you keep a picture of your creation.
