What it's like to play

Most casual games follow the same gentle loop. A stage appears, you poke at it, something satisfying happens, and the next stage is a little busier. Nothing moves faster than you can follow. There is time to notice the small animations and the sounds that reward a good move. A session is less about winning and more about a steady drip of small, pleasant feedback.

How to play

1Look at the stage layout for a few seconds and find the goal, which is usually shown as an icon or a short line of text.
2Interact by tapping, clicking or dragging. Nearly all casual games here use one of those three and nothing else.
3Aim for combinations where one action triggers several results; they are the fastest route to any target.
4Check the stage summary at the end to see your score and whether a replay is worth it.

Why it's worth a go

Key & Sheild is forgiving and free. It runs in a browser tab with nothing to install, which makes it easy to try and just as easy to drop. The gentle difficulty curve means you keep making progress, and the short stages suit a few idle minutes.

Who it's for

Anyone looking for a calm way to pass time. It fits phone users especially well, and younger children can usually manage the early stages alone. Adults who want to switch off will find it undemanding.
