Can I play Mad Day 2 Special without a mouse?

Yes. On desktop, racing games almost always use the keyboard. On phones, you steer by tilting or with on-screen buttons.

Is there a way to practice a track?

Some racing games offer a time trial or practice mode without opponents. Otherwise, the first race on a track doubles as a practice run.

Why do I keep spinning out?

Usually from steering too hard at speed. Ease off the accelerator as you turn and make smaller steering inputs. It gets easier quickly.

The guide

Overview

Ride, shoot, jump and smash your way to victory in this addictive runner. Team up with ex-Marine Bob to battle evil aliens who have invaded the planet. To make things even worse, they’ve kidnapped his beloved pet octopus. Needless to say that Bob is on a mission to make this an encounter that the aliens won’t soon forget.

Most of a racing game happens in the half second before a corner. Brake too late and you lose two places. Brake too early and the car behind slips past. Everything else, the straights and the boosts and the paint jobs, exists to set up those moments. Races are short and sessions are usually a string of them, with lap times and positions to measure your progress against.

How to play

1Start a race and use the first lap to learn the track layout, especially where the sharpest turns are.
2Steer with arrow keys or tilt, accelerate with the up key or on-screen pedal, and brake lightly before corners.
3Stay to the inside on tight turns and the outside on fast ones; it is the shortest route through most tracks.
4Watch the position indicator and the minimap if there is one, so you know when to push and when to defend.

Why it's worth a go

Mad Day 2 Special is a browser game you can start in seconds and leave in a few minutes without any cost or install. The driving is simple to pick up, the corners are not, and that gap is where the fun is. No account is needed and nothing is left behind.

Who it's for

Suits players who enjoy cars, speed and a bit of competition. It works for older children through adults, and for anyone who wants a short, focused challenge rather than a long campaign.
