Does Mario Vs Luigi support online matchmaking?

Some multiplayer games here do, pairing you anonymously with another player. Others are local only. The mode selection on the start screen will tell you.

Can we play on a phone?

Turn-based and online modes work well on a phone. Shared-screen games are cramped on a small phone and much better on a tablet or laptop.

Typically one to three minutes. Multiplayer games are built for quick rematches, so a session of ten rounds fits in a short break.

The guide

Overview

Luigi is Mario's fraternal twin brother. He is taller, thinner and shows a wider range of emotions than Mario. Luigi was originally developed via a palette swap of Mario with a green color scheme instead of red, but as the Mario series evolved, Luigi's character became taller and thinner than his brother Mario. Luigi fans love him for his dependability, for being an underdog, and even for his mustache. Therefore Luigi has the edge over his superstar sibling. Running into a Question Block is not a feat of endurance but a single, straightforward task. While the brothers may match one another in raw power, Luigi's mass is ultimately going to secure him a Question Block's bounty first.

What it's like to play

The computer never bluffs. A person does. Multiplayer games here are built around that difference, whether you are racing a friend on a shared keyboard, taking turns on a tablet, or matched against someone online. Rounds are quick and often close. A session is a running tally of wins and losses that neither side is quite ready to leave alone.

How to play

1Read the mode list on the start screen and pick local, online or turn-based.
2If playing on one device, settle who controls which side before the round begins.
3Learn the one or two actions your character has and practice them in the first round rather than trying to win it.
4Keep playing rounds; the running score matters more than any single result.
