Overview

Mask of Six Moons is a pixel-art action platformer. Dive through the moon gates, battle monsters and loot weapons from Common all the way to the ultra-rare Phantom tier. Choose from 12 weapon types, including greatswords, scythes, hammers, bows, staffs and chain whips, each with its own moves. Every weapon rolls random bonuses, and rare ones carry unique effects. Level up, spend points on five stats and unlock dash, double jump and wall jump. Two gates are open now: the Sunken Crypt, guarded by the Drowned Carillon, and the Fungal Caverns, ruled by the Mother Bloom. More gates are coming in future updates.

What it's like to play

Nothing about an adventure game is in a hurry. You wander, you notice, you pick up a thing you do not yet understand. Later it makes sense. A session might be twenty minutes of exploring one area or an hour spent crossing several. The story, however light, gives the wandering a purpose, and the small puzzles give the story a rhythm.

How to play

1Check the controls on the start screen, then walk a slow lap of the first area, interacting with everything.
2Open doors, read notes and talk to characters. Clues are often hidden in plain sight in dialogue or signs.
3Collect items freely and try them on anything that looks blocked. Wrong combinations cost nothing.
4If you are stuck, look for a path or exit you have not taken yet. The game usually only blocks what you are not ready for.
