4.3Pac-Man (stylized in all capitals as PAC-MAN) is an arcade game designed by Toru Iwatani (1955,) of Namco, and released in Japan as PUCKMAN in May 1980. Licensed for distribution in the United States by Midway Games, it was released in October 1980, at a time when the top arcade games were "stark" space shooters such as Galaxian and Asteroids. Pac-Man established the conventions of the maze chase genre, and is considered to be one of the classics in video game history and an icon of 1980s popular culture. There may have been a gender divide between gamers in different genres; according to one estimate published in 1982, 60% of Pac-Man players were women, while 90% of those playing space shoot-'em-up Omega Race were men.
Unlike action titles, a puzzle game asks almost nothing of your hands and everything of your attention. The board sits still until you move. You can take thirty seconds or ten minutes on a single decision, and the game does not care. Progress comes from noticing things: a tile that only fits one slot, a color that appears twice, a rule you misread. Each solved stage feels earned.
Pac-Man Card Match is low commitment. There is no account, nothing to download, and no tutorial to sit through. You open the tab, think for a while, close it. The satisfaction is in the small click of a solution falling into place, and that holds up on a phone as well as a desktop.
Anyone who prefers thinking over twitch reflexes. It works for teenagers and adults alike, and for older players who want something unhurried. Kids who can follow a simple rule will manage the first stages.
