Nothing about an adventure game is in a hurry. You wander, you notice, you pick up a thing you do not yet understand. Later it makes sense. A session might be twenty minutes of exploring one area or an hour spent crossing several. The story, however light, gives the wandering a purpose, and the small puzzles give the story a rhythm.

Does Persistence need a fast connection?

Only to load. Adventure games can be a bit larger than arcade titles, so give the first load a moment. After that it runs locally in the tab.

Can I skip the dialogue?

Usually, by clicking or tapping through it. Be careful though, since dialogue often contains the clue you need for the next puzzle.

What is the difference between this and a puzzle game?

Adventure games wrap their puzzles in exploration and story. You move through places and talk to characters rather than solving a single board.
