The guide

Overview

Navigate bustling streets in Race Time, a thrilling 2D top-down racing experience. Master your car's controls, dodge obstacles, and strategically use boosts to overtake rivals. Enhance your vehicle with upgrades and conquer the ranks in this adrenaline-pumping race to victory. Stay on track and emerge as the top racer.

Rivalry makes simple games better. A multiplayer title here might be a two-button fighting game or a racing game or a turn-based board game, and it hardly matters, because the other person is the real content. Sessions are rounds of a minute or two, with a tally. The player who is losing always wants one more. The player who is winning usually agrees.

How to play

1Select a mode. Local games share a keyboard or screen; online games find an opponent for you.
2Check which keys or on-screen buttons belong to each player before the countdown.
3Play your first round to learn, your second to test your opponent, and your third to win.
4Use the rematch or next round button to keep the score running.

Why it's worth a go

Race Time runs free in the browser with no install or sign-up, which makes it quick to pull up when two people want a game. Rounds are short and competitive, and a human opponent means no two sessions are the same, however simple the rules.

Who it's for

Suits friends, couples, siblings and classmates, as well as solo players looking for an online opponent. Older children through adults will find it approachable. A laptop or tablet suits shared play best.
