The guide

Overview

So let's get down to shots on goal. In principle, everyone is ready, the goalkeeper stands in his place, the additional player interfering with the goal has taken his position and the ball is waiting only for your kick. To kick, select the part of the goal into which you will direct the ball, and then simply drag your mouse in the direction of the kick and hope that the ball will go right into the net without hitting the goalkeeper or a running player.

What it's like to play

Swing, release, watch. Whether the game is golf, basketball or something less usual, sports games here boil down to a well-timed input and a moment of waiting to see if it lands. Rounds are short and scored. Many games add a tournament or career ladder that gives a session shape, with each win leading to a tougher opponent. The physics are forgiving and the rules are familiar.

How to play

1Start a match and find the aim control, which is usually a mouse drag, a swipe, or arrow keys to position.
2Set power with a meter or by how far you drag, and release at the right moment to execute.
3Aim for the gaps rather than the target. Corners of the goal, edges of the hoop, open lanes on the court.
4After each round, check the scoreboard and adjust your power or angle rather than repeating the same shot.
