The guide

Overview

Tic Tac Toe is a classic two-player game that can be played on a computer. The game is played on a 3x3 grid and each player takes turns marking one of the squares with their symbol, either X or O. The first player to get three of their symbols in a row, either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, wins the game. If all the squares are filled without a winner, the game is a tie. To play the game, simply click on the square where you want to place your symbol. The game will alternate turns between the two players until a winner is declared or the game is tied. The player with the most wins at the end of the series is the ultimate winner. Tic Tac Toe is a simple and fun game that can be played by people of all ages. It's a great way to pass the time and improve your strategic thinking skills. So gather a friend and start playing today.

What it's like to play

The best moment in any puzzle game is the one just after you have been stuck. You have tried the obvious moves, nothing worked, and then you spot the thing you overlooked. The whole board resolves in a few quick taps. Sessions are built from a string of those moments, separated by stretches of quiet staring. It is slow in a good way.

How to play

1Identify the goal first. Look for a target, counter or outline that tells you what a finished stage looks like.
2Make a move you can reverse, then see how the board reacts. Most puzzles let you undo or restart freely.
3Group similar pieces or clear blockers early so you have room to work later in the stage.
4When you solve a stage, note what the trick was; the next few stages will usually build on it.

Why it's worth a go

Because it fits into the gaps. Simple Tic Tac Toe does not need a download or a login, and a stage takes about as long as waiting for a kettle. It is also one of the few kinds of game that leaves you feeling slightly sharper rather than drained.
