What do I need to play Sky Hero on a desktop?

A mouse and keyboard. The mouse usually aims and fires, and the keyboard moves if the game has movement. The start screen shows the exact bindings.

How long is a typical round?

Two to five minutes in most cases. Endless wave games last until you run out of health, which gets quicker as the difficulty ramps.

Is there a lot of blood?

No. Shooting games on this site are stylised and cartoon-like. Enemies tend to pop, flash or vanish rather than anything graphic.

The guide

Overview

Fly an airplane with your mouse, and get more gold coins by hitting other aircrafts. There are different levels to challenge. It's an extraordinary experience.

What it's like to play

Crosshairs, targets, and a trigger finger that gets tired before you expect it to. Shooting games here range from fixed-screen target galleries to side-scrolling run-and-gun stages, but the feel is consistent: enemies appear, you react, the score climbs. Pressure builds through numbers rather than complexity. A session is a handful of rounds, each one pushing a bit further before the health bar gives out.

How to play

1Check the start screen for whether the mouse aims or your character moves with the keyboard, since shooters use both styles.
2Aim slightly ahead of moving targets. Most projectiles take a moment to arrive.
3Take cover or retreat when several enemies fire at once; health does not regenerate in most browser shooters.
4Grab weapon or ammo pickups when they drop, especially before a boss or large wave.

Why it's worth a go

Sky Hero is immediate. Press Play and within seconds you are shooting. No download, no account, nothing to configure. It is free and short, and the score gives you a reason to try just one more round before closing the tab.
