4.3Somnokid is a unique shmup/platformer hybrid in which you must construct the stage before platforming and battling on it. Stave off your nightmares by slaying monsters, then survive on whatever ground you could build in time.
Timing is everything here. An arcade game strips play down to a reflex and then tests it over and over, each time with slightly less margin. You jump a beat early and fall. You jump on the beat and the run continues. Scores climb, music speeds up, and the screen fills with things to avoid. A session is a stack of short attempts, each one a little better than the last.
The runs in Somnokid are short enough that losing never stings for long. You press restart before the frustration lands. It is free, runs straight in the browser without a download, and the score table gives you a reason to come back tomorrow.
People who like quick feedback and a clear number to beat. Commuters, students on a break, and anyone who finds a thirty-second challenge more appealing than a thirty-hour one. Older kids will take to it quickly.
