Does Squid Soccer work on a phone?

Yes. Most sports games here use swipe or tap controls that suit a touchscreen. A tablet gives more room to see the whole field or court.

Not very, and that is deliberate. Browser sports games keep the rules and the spirit but simplify the physics so matches are quick and fun.

Will it save my tournament progress?

The guide

Overview

Squid Soccer is a fun great soccer game. Stop an onslaught of incoming soccer balls; this free kicks challenge puts you in control of a star Squid Goalkeeper. The objective is to save every shot on goal; You can dive in any direction at any height; stop the last goal to enter the bonus round. Try to win all medals.

A football match in a browser game lasts about three minutes and still manages to feel like a match. That is the trick of the genre. Sports games compress the real thing into a few essential inputs, keep the rules recognisable, and let the scoreboard do the rest. Sessions are built from short rounds, and the urge to play one more is strong when you have just lost.

How to play

1Pick a team or player if offered, then start a match and spend the first few seconds learning how your athlete moves.
2Use the arrow keys or on-screen pad to position, and the action button or tap to kick, shoot or swing.
3Time your action to the moment the ball or target is in reach; early or late inputs lose power or direction.
4Watch the clock and score, and change your approach when behind rather than repeating what is not working.
