The guide

Overview

Stack Ball is a 3d arcade game where players smash, bump and bounce through revolving helix platforms to reach the end. Sound easy? You wish. Your ball smashes like a brick through colorful platforms that block its descent, but if you hit a black one, it's all over. Your ball shatters to pieces and you have to start your fall all over again. But even black platforms are no match for a fireball falling at full speed. Choose your strategy: speed up like a madman or stop and wait for your next chance to roll and jump. Other ball games wish they were this fun

What it's like to play

Open it, tap, and you are in. A casual game does not ask you to read a manual or remember a control scheme. The first stage shows a hand pointing at something; you tap it; a pleasant chime plays. From there each stage adds a small twist. Sessions are easy to begin and easy to end, and both of those things matter more than they sound.

How to play

1Follow the pointing hand or glowing object on the first stage. That is the game teaching you its one core action.
2Tap, click or swipe to interact. If something highlights when you hover or touch it, it probably does something.
3Watch for a target shown at the top of the stage and work toward it in the fewest moves you can manage.
4Use boosters or hints freely. Most stages are designed with them in mind.

Why it's worth a go

It is relaxing in a way few things on a screen are. Stack Ball 2020 loads in the browser with no download and no account, it makes no demands, and every few minutes it gives you a small win. For a free game, that is a good trade.
