Does Stay Alive need a fast computer?

No. Strategy games are light on graphics. They run on most laptops, tablets and phones with a current browser. Larger screens simply make the map easier to read.

What if I keep losing on the same map?

Change one thing at a time between attempts: a placement, an upgrade order, the timing of a spend. Strategy maps usually have one or two key spots that decide them.

Can I speed the game up?

Many real-time strategy games offer a fast-forward button for waves. Turn-based games move as quickly as you make decisions.

The guide

Overview

Stay Alive pits you against a wilderness filled with looming threats. Chop trees, craft essential tools, and set up defenses against cannibal attacks. Navigate the perilous terrain, forage for survival, and outsmart dangers using strategic planning. Do you have what it takes to escape this thrilling adventure?

Losing a strategy game is unusually informative. You can see exactly where the plan broke: the path you left open, the resource you spent too early, the unit you moved one square too far. Sessions are built from this kind of learning. Each attempt at a map is a hypothesis, and the game tests it in waves or turns. Eventually one holds, and the satisfaction is real.

How to play

1Read the stage goal and look at the map before building or moving anything.
2Place your first units where enemies must pass, and leave room to add more behind them.
3Observe the first wave or enemy turn closely, then fix the weak spot before the next.
4Upgrade existing positions before building new ones; depth beats breadth in most maps.

Why it's worth a go

Stay Alive rewards the kind of thinking most games skip. It is free, runs in the browser with no install or login, and lets you take your time. A session leaves you with a specific lesson rather than just a score, which keeps the next attempt interesting.

Who it's for

Suits players who enjoy planning and problem solving, generally teens and adults, with older children who like puzzles also fitting. It is a good match for desktop and tablet play.
