The guide

Overview

A famous and elusive street artist and bully named Jack visited the city of San Francisco today. Here our hero draws pictures on the walls of the building with the help of paint cans in various places. As always, the police are tracking him. In the game Subway Surfers: San Francisco you will help the guy hide from their pursuit. In front of you on the screen you will see your character, who with all his might, gradually gaining speed, will run along the road. Policemen will follow on his heels. Look at the screen carefully. On the way of our hero, obstacles will await. You deftly controlling his actions will have to run around them all or jump over. There will also be coins and other items on the road that you will need to pick up on the run. They will bring you points, and they can also reward the character with temporary bonus

What it's like to play

Three, two, one, and the pack moves off together. Racing games compress a lot into a short time: starts, overtakes, corners you take too fast, the straight where you finally pull ahead. Each race is a small, complete story. Between races there is often a garage or upgrade screen, and then you are back on the grid. A session of five or six races goes by quickly.

How to play

1Hold accelerate from the start and steer with the arrow keys or by tilting; let the car settle before the first corner.
2Lift off or tap the brake going into tight turns, then accelerate from the apex outward.
3Look ahead to the next corner rather than at your car; it gives you time to set up the line.
4Try different vehicles if the game offers them. Handling varies more than top speed does.

Why it's worth a go

A race in Subway Surfers San Francisco takes about as long as a song, and it is free to run in your browser with nothing to download. That makes it good for a quick break, and the steady improvement in your lap times gives the breaks a shape they would not otherwise have.
