The guide

Overview

Step into the enchanting world of Sum Island, where numbers become your playful allies. Forge connections by strategically pairing colorful blocks, creating magical sequences. With each level offering new puzzles, hone your skills in this captivating blend of strategy and charm that rewards patience and thoughtful planning.

Short stages, soft landings, and a character a child can steer themselves. That is the shape of most junior games. There is more to do than in toddler games: a path to follow, a few obstacles, a simple puzzle or counting task. But nothing moves faster than a child can react, and a mistake just means trying again. Sessions end when the stage does or when attention does.

How to play

1Tap Play and watch the brief introduction, which shows the character and the one or two actions available.
2Steer with the arrow keys or on-screen pad, and tap or press space to jump or interact.
3Follow the path and collect what the game highlights. Dodge anything that moves toward you.
4Press next at the end of a stage, or replay to collect anything you missed.

Why it's worth a go

Sum Island is a step up from the simplest children's games without being frustrating. It is free, runs in a browser tab with no download or login, and a parent can see the whole game on one screen. Progress feels real to a child, and that is the point.

Who it's for

Suits children aged roughly five to ten who are ready to control a character and follow simple goals. Younger siblings may enjoy watching. Parents and carers can play alongside.
