The guide

Overview

Inside The Haunted Mansion, a young man is strongly regretting the fact that he didn’t stay at home today. Chased by a horde of zombies, he barricaded himself in one of the multiple rooms of the house. But his safety is not guaranteed for long: the creatures are breaking the rotten wood floor and try to catch him with their hands. There’s only one solution to help him: you will have to barricade the floor with crates before leaving for a new room. Your brain will quickly be challenged by this game and its always evolving difficulty. Each new level will be harder than the last one: more zombies in more and more complexes puzzles. The Haunted Mansion is an amusing game for the whole family. Only recommended for... everyone.

What it's like to play

Most casual games follow the same gentle loop. A stage appears, you poke at it, something satisfying happens, and the next stage is a little busier. Nothing moves faster than you can follow. There is time to notice the small animations and the sounds that reward a good move. A session is less about winning and more about a steady drip of small, pleasant feedback.

How to play

1Look at the stage layout for a few seconds and find the goal, which is usually shown as an icon or a short line of text.
2Interact by tapping, clicking or dragging. Nearly all casual games here use one of those three and nothing else.
3Aim for combinations where one action triggers several results; they are the fastest route to any target.
4Check the stage summary at the end to see your score and whether a replay is worth it.

Why it's worth a go

The Haunted Mansion is forgiving and free. It runs in a browser tab with nothing to install, which makes it easy to try and just as easy to drop. The gentle difficulty curve means you keep making progress, and the short stages suit a few idle minutes.
