The guide

Overview

It's a brilliant, never-ending, and intense game that focuses on the battles between galaxies. As you play this bright-colored pixel game, you'll find a lot of enemies, ships, upgrades, and other things to find. Only a few people have decided to fight against the whole world, and you are one of them. Your ships can only be upgraded if you've earned enough money by battling the bad guys. You won't keep to fear about heading into many enemies now that you've invested in the best ship. -Buy rockets to eliminate your enemies quickly. Even the most formidable foes can't kill you if you don't wear armor. Strengthening your spaceship will let you take down more enemies and rack up more points. Many points and records are necessary to compete with your buddies for the world record. Keep an eye out for who has the most money and gone the most far in the game while comparing scores with your buddies.

What it's like to play

You will die a lot, and that is the design. Arcade games expect it. Each run lasts until a single mistake, and then you are back at the start with a slightly better sense of the timing. Over a session of fifteen minutes you might play twenty rounds. Somewhere in the middle one of them goes well, and the number at the top of the screen jumps.

Controls

WASD move the ship mouse0 to fire a bullet mouse1 to fire roket

How to play

1Find the one or two controls on the start screen. Arcade games rarely use more than a jump, a move and maybe a fire button.
2Stay near the middle of the play area when you can, which leaves you room to dodge in either direction.
3Pick up power-ups or multipliers when they are on your path, but ignore the ones that pull you into danger.
4When you lose, look at what killed you before you restart. The same thing will come back.

Why it's worth a go

Warring Universe is honest. There are no upgrades to buy and no grind, just you and your reaction time. Because it runs free in a browser tab, it is the sort of game you can open on a whim, play for five minutes, and leave without a trace.

Who it's for

Players who miss the directness of old cabinet games, and younger ones who have never seen a cabinet but like a dare. It suits phones well, so it is handy for anyone waiting in a queue.
