The guide

Overview

In this game, you will grab your favorite basketball and will try to score as many points as possible. All of the free throws will happen from different angles and distances. Pick your favorite team and try to be the best player around. There is a time limit, so you need to be quick. You have a total of 20 balls that you can use. It’s no easy task, since you need to guess the angle and strength that you need to hit. How to play: - Pick up the ball over the table. - Press and hold left mouse button, when shooting, to increase the shooting force. Force will show on the right indicator. - Shoot and try to get the most score before time is over

What it's like to play

Scoreboards make everything feel important, and sports games lean on that. A session here is a sequence of short contests, each with a clear result. You learn the timing of a shot or a kick in the first round, tighten it in the second, and start thinking about tactics by the third. Opponents get quicker. The rules stay recognisable. It ends when the bracket does or when you do.

How to play

1Start a match and watch the first few seconds to see how your player or ball responds to input.
2Use drag, swipe or arrow keys to aim, and release or tap to shoot, kick or swing.
3Vary your shots. Opponents in many sports games adapt to repeated patterns.
4Watch the timer and play safe when ahead, take risks when behind.

Why it's worth a go

Basketball Arcade runs free in your browser with nothing to install and no account to make. Matches last a couple of minutes and have a clear winner. It is a small, repeatable competition that works just as well on a phone as a desktop.
