iPhone document scanner with ID and passport modes, shadow removal and in-app signatures.

Paper to PDF on an iPhone, with modes for the awkward stuff like ID cards and passports. This scanner from WICRO Technology handles receipts, invoices, contracts, notes and book pages, and is meant for everyday paperwork rather than archival-grade scanning. Edge detection and automatic cropping frame the page, and you can straighten the result, reduce shadows, rotate and pick from enhanced, black-and-white, grayscale or untouched output. Multi-page capture builds longer documents. A signature can be drawn and placed on a scan before it goes out. Files save as PDF or image and can be emailed, and past scans are kept in a document history. Premium features sit behind an auto-renewing subscription, with the price and any trial shown before purchase.
Passports and ID cards are awkward to scan well, and this iPhone scanner from WICRO Technology makes a point of having modes for them. The rest of its scope is everyday paperwork: receipts, invoices, contracts, notes and pages from books, turned into PDFs or images.
Automatic edge detection and cropping frame the page, with tools to straighten, rotate and reduce shadows, and save the result untouched, cleaned up, in grayscale, or as pure black and white. Documents can run to multiple pages, a hand-drawn signature can be placed on a scan before sending, files go out by email, and a history keeps earlier scans. A subscription that renews automatically covers the premium features.
Renewing a visa or opening a bank account means photographing a passport, and that is where the dedicated mode earns its keep, framing the document and flattening the glare. On a normal day it's receipts and invoices: scan, remove the shadow your hand cast, pick black and white, and email it off. A contract that needs a signature gets one drawn with a finger and dropped onto the page before it goes. The history list is the fallback when you need last month's invoice again.
ID and passport scanning is the specific search, often from people filling in an online application that demands a clean image of their documents. Shadow removal is the second draw, because phone scans of paper on a desk nearly always have one. Beyond that it competes with every other PDF scanner for the receipt-and-invoice crowd.
Three screenshots only, which leaves much of the interface to the imagination. They probably cover the camera view with document framing, an edit screen with the filter options and the ID or passport mode. Tools-category scanners usually use a neutral palette with a brightly coloured capture button, but the listing doesn't say so, and nothing confirms how the signature tool looks.
At version 1.0.7 this is an early release still receiving small patches, and it has no ratings yet. WICRO TECHNOLOGY CO.,LIMITED is a company rather than an individual, but nothing else about its history is in the listing. With no community feedback and only an App Store link, support quality is simply unknown at this point.
Passport and ID images
Dedicated modes frame the awkward documents that general scanners mangle.
Removing desk shadows
Shadow reduction cleans up the dark band a phone casts over paper.
Signing before sending
A finger-drawn signature goes onto the scan without a second app.
Rated 4+ and free to download. Premium features require an auto-renewing subscription; the listing says the price and any trial will be displayed before purchase but doesn't quote them, nor does it say which features are free. Scanning should work offline, while emailing needs a connection. No account is mentioned. There are no ratings to indicate stability. Ads, storage and regional availability aren't discussed.
Our take
Consider it if you specifically need a tidy passport or ID scan and want shadow removal, and you're willing to be among the first users. For general document work, the Luni and Distrito scanners in this batch have review histories and OCR, which this one lacks. Check the subscription screen carefully before tapping anything, since the free scope isn't spelled out.
