Magic Music Tiles is a direct descendant of avoid the white blocks: notes scroll down the screen, and the player taps or holds each one on the beat without letting any slip past. Its pitch is partly as a game and partly as practice, the idea being that keeping up with the tiles trains reaction speed and a feel for piano melodies. Two modes are included, the classic tap-only format and a long-press variant, and the two are combined in play. The song library covers original pieces, classical staples and orchestral arrangements, with new additions over time, and the game also supports adding songs for free, which is unusual in this genre. A global leaderboard handles bragging rights, and ongoing challenges pay out rewards. The interface is deliberately minimal, so there's very little to learn before playing.
