Boyfriend wants to hang out with Girlfriend, and her father would rather see him off. That's the setup for Friday Night Funkin', a rhythm game in which each confrontation is a song and you tap notes on the beat to win the exchange, against a parade of oddballs who stand in the way. The mobile release carries over 60 original tracks, mostly by KawaiSprite and Saruky, with guest contributions from Lotus Juice (Persona 3) and Kohta Takahashi (Ridge Racer 4). The visuals are hand-drawn 2D animation made in Adobe Flash by PhantomArcade, and every stage and opponent has its own look. Tom Fulp oversaw the gameplay and Ninjamuffin99 wrote the code, which sums up the Newgrounds lineage in a sentence. More levels, cutscenes and playable characters are planned for later updates.
